How Much Does a Batting Cage Cost in 2026?
What you can expect to pay per session, per hour, and for memberships at indoor and outdoor batting cages — plus what drives price differences.
Batting cage pricing varies more than people expect. The same hour can run $8 at a city
park and $40 at a high-end indoor academy in the same metro. Here's the lay of the land
for 2026, based on listings we've reviewed across the country.
Per-session vs. per-hour vs. memberships
Most public-park and family-entertainment cages sell **token-based** sessions: roughly
$2–$5 for 20–30 pitches. A typical 30-minute session ends up costing $10–$20.
Dedicated indoor academies (D-BAT, Grand Slam, and similar regional chains) sell by the
**half-hour or hour**, usually $25–$45 for an hour of cage time. That price typically
includes the machine and balls. Real-ball machines (those that pitch actual baseballs and
softballs rather than rubber dimpled balls) sit at the higher end.
Memberships at indoor academies run **$80–$200/month** for unlimited cage access during
off-peak hours, with peak-hour upcharges. Lessons with a coach are billed separately and
typically run $50–$100 per 30-minute session.
What drives the price
- **Indoor vs. outdoor.** Indoor facilities carry rent, HVAC, and lighting costs you don't
pay for at a public park. Expect indoor to be 2–4× the per-hour cost of outdoor.
- **Real ball vs. dimpled rubber.** Real-ball machines need more maintenance and more
space, so they cost more to run. They also feel closer to game pitching.
- **Tech.** HitTrax and similar pitch-tracking systems add $10–$15/hour at facilities that
offer them.
- **Peak vs. off-peak.** Weekday morning is usually 25–40% cheaper than weekend evening.
How to save
- Check city parks and rec departments — many run free or low-cost outdoor cages.
- Buy session bundles or punch cards. A 10-pack typically saves 10–15%.
- Off-season (November–February) is when most indoor academies discount memberships.
- League partnerships often unlock member rates without the membership fee.
